The secret ingredients for a perfect piecing?
An octagon template, a clever technique, and clear instructions for everything you have to do!
And I am not talking about the center octagon!
You will love this technique, even if you are not fond of using templates (I hate templates!). Because it makes the technique quick and easy.
Versatile block size: 10''
Easy to sew tops in any size you need!
Want to add borders? I give you instructions!
Sew a few blocks or sew 50!
Make pillows, baby quilts, king size quilts or just table runners.
How is this intricate design stitched after all?
I remember the time when I wasn't able to understand how a block like this can be stitched. If you have the same problem, I tell you this: partial seams! If you have never tried this technique yet, don't miss this opportunity!
But partial seams is only a part of the block.
The fun, interesting and clever part comes after it!
And I give you TWO techniques to finish the block!
Busy quilter? This helps!
In spite of the intricate look of the blocks, there are ways to speed up the piecing and I give you some tricks on how to do it! It's about cutting, pressing and piecing!
- The pattern uses 5'' squares and 2 1/2'' strips, so if you want, you can use charm squares and jelly rolls. It is also fat quarter friendly.
- You don't have to press after every single seam! The block is made out of 15 pieces and you press it three times!
- A chain piecing and trimming techniques will make piecing faster.
Fancy free motion quilting?
I made it easy for you!
If you want to replicate my quilting on your quilt, I included detailed instructions on how and what to mark on your top.

A little secret for easy free motion quilting
I quilted my quilt with Aurifil 50wt in a beautiful light gray color - color #2600; this was one of my best quilting experiences ever. One of the secrets? I used the same thread in the bobbin! And I paired the thread with a Schmetz sharp needle.
Unexpected and Huge Benefits!
I quilted feathers on almost the entire surface of the quilt.
The way I "framed" the blocks not only makes the quilting even more special, it offers some unexpected benefits! HUGE benefits!
Walking foot quilting: easy option!
If you want to quilt straight lines on your quilt, I included some suggestions and instructions.
Don't worry about choosing fabrics!
The pattern offers lots of options- from monochrome to rainbow blocks!

The designs measure 7''. Just print the blocks, cut out the templates and start wrapping fabric around paper and sew!
I used Aurifil 80wt cotton thread for hand sewing these pieces and it was the perfect choice.
