A new patchwork quilt. At first, I made this block.
An octagon surrounded by triangles – from my Loving Hugs quilt pattern.
A little math and then I added one more row of triangles.
And one more row.
I started with a 2” octagon. The size of the triangles increases exponentially.
The final size of the piece is 28”.
Of course!

Dear Geta,
of course, you know how to work with maths, your new block really looks exciting! The green one with a little bit of orange and yellow reminds me of a snail 😉 Yours, Martina

Fabulous! I also love the look when there is a lot of contrast, rather than the 2 color one. 2 colors would work really nicely however if the colors were very different. Well done!

My favorite is the two prints version! It has a vintage, romantic, charming look. It's a different style compared to the first version. It's not ugly. I like to have something new to discover. I don't mind that I don't see the center piece at a glance.
Actually this mean that your block is so versatile!

Quite inspirational.

Wonderful design! This would also be fantastic as a rainbow opening from the inside…graduating in colors from dark to light (or light to dark) of various blending colors. Yellow, yellow orange, orange, orange red, red, red orange, etc Like an uncoiled spring from center to outside. Thanks for the cool motivation to stitch! Hugs, Kathy

That floral is to die for. I think in addition to changing the initial octagon using a higher contrast between the floral and the second fabric would work. I think right now they are too close in value — something that reads as the darkest pink in the floral would be wonderful. Send it to me — I'll take it apart. Let's see — triangles are 2", 4", 8" and 16"?? Half of a square of those sizes actually. Wonder how far one could go!

Sizes would be for cutting triangles with the tip nipped off from a strip rather than cutting from squares, which would need to be 1/8" larger — am I right? Not sure on my math. Maybe I should just say I am talking "finished" size. 8<)

Just awesome!

It is not a bad block, just depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you want something soft looking it is wonderful combination. I have some of that dog wood fabric I got in Paducah a year or two ago and love it.
