Working with black is very unusual for me. Inspired by a bouquet of daisies and red roses from her garden, my sister Nina convinced me to make a flower sphere in these color. And since we had to use white for the flowers, we had to work with a dark background and she chose black.
She wanted black so it was her job to transfer the design from paper to fabric! She chose the colors for the flowers and then we made the applique pieces.
This is the smallest design of my pattern, it measures 15”.
The fabric is from the Fossil fern collection, as in this quilt.
Now I have a dilemma! Nina wants black thread for quilting on the black background. I would like white or red or green. What would you choose?
I think I need glasses to quilt black on black!

I've already done black on black. You will need a lot of lighting. How about dark grey or charcoal on black, almost same effect but easier on the eyes.

E superb pe negru, ca un mic vitraliu, in plus cu efect 3D.
E foarte greu cu negru, dar cum te cunosc, nu cred ca iti poate sta ceva in cale 🙂

I can't get enough of Fossil Fern. I think I would use a dark red (and red isn't one of my favorite colors)

It looks terrific, good idea to listen to your sister ☺
I would recommend black or almost black thread too.

love this, is there a pattern?? where can i find it????
where mag glasses, knit three black doilies for a railroader, and he loved them, easy to see with them on

Either go with dark charcoal or if it has to be black, then a shiny polyester thread. Good luck!

I would use one of the soft greens. The black would be lost and as others said, far too hard to see while working.

This will look terrific after quilting, because it already does.

Wow! and POW! This is going to be awesome, Geta and Nina!! This is so pretty with the Fossil Fern fabrics and the colors Nina chose!
I think black…. the colors will come from the fabrics and design. Maybe set up another light, with the strong glasses…
