I love and appreciate jeans needles more and more.
They saved my sanity when I quilted with the Aurifil 12wt thick thread and these days I had another nice surprise.
I had to quilt over fusible web appliques; I used Aurifil 50wt thread and a topstitch needle; I tested the thread tension on a small regular sandwich – no appliques. Perfect stitches. Then I started to quilt over the appliques – far away from perfect and lots of skipped stitches. I changed the topstitch needle with a jeans needle and kept all the tension settings intact. Perfect stitching again!

It is interesting to see you post on using jeans needles! I took a class last month from Barbara Shapel – http://www.barbarashapel.com – and she uses jeans needles for almost all her thread painting. I was amazed at how effortless the needle went through the layers of threads + fabrics + batting! I am going to use them from now on. Thanks for sharing. Ani in USA
That's so helpful to see the comparison so close up! I have lots of heavyweight thread, but had trouble finding a needle that works with it (all were too small). Thanks for the tips!
as a new quilter I am completely confused by all your pics (lol) but I think you stitching is wonderful. If I can do that one day I will be happy.

This is an interesting comparison I'm new to quilting and still trying to master free motion my last attempt ended with tears and loads of eyelashes will keep trying as I love the effects that it produces your tips are very helpful
