I made this to welcome spring, only that now it is snowing!
The pretty Ann Kelle fabric was the perfect choice for this small bag.
It is small …see below.
Do you like the fancy pocket on the lining ? I made it in 3 minutes! I cut it out from a shirt! So save those shirts! Even if it is only for the pockets!
Because the bag is small, my initial thought was to fuse 2 layers of lightweight interfacing to the fabric.
One layer fused, then the second one.
It is boring to fuse interfacing to fabric! And after I remembered how much ironing this little bag below required , I changed my mind.
I added cotton batting and backing and I quilted the pieces (it really doesn’t take more time than fusing 2 layers of interfacing).
On the pink dot fabric I forgot to fuse interfacing; and even if the fabric and the quilting are not the same, you can see the difference between them.
I LOVE the look of the one made with fabric+interfacing. It is similar with fabric+heavyweight interfacing, but much cheaper. And PERFECT for small bags.
A little girl will adore it! I think I have to make more!

Thanks for your visit to my blog as well! I'm glad you enjoyed my clam shell quilt tutorial! You commented on me 'washing' the top before I backed and batted it, well, I had read and seen numerous 'hand appliqué' quilters water soak the glue out of their blocks before they sewed them all together and thought I could do it too with the clam shells I had used the glue on. I started hand basting the shells together and then decided to try the glue method on about the bottom third of the top. Since I just let the top 'soak' and spin the water out and didn't let it 'wash' it turned out ok. I also didn't put the wet top in the dryer, I just let it air dry outside on the soft grass.
I must say, I was a little nervous when I tried it, but was extra careful to be gentle with it.
