This post doesn’t have pretty pictures. But I hope I will show you a beautiful quilt in a few weeks.
I started a new shadow trapunto quilt. A large one – well, as large as my organza – a little bigger than 50”.
As I have a small table, I thought to baste the layers on the floor…
Here are batting and organza…
and here I added the paper pattern.
I had the most difficult time pinning through paper on the floor…
I just hope that organza remained stretched and smooth under the paper…
My sister Nina helped me on Friday for a few hours, and now half of the trimming is done…
After the 30 shadow trapunto projects I made for the book, in about 7 months, I was really worried that I will never enjoy making shadow trapunto quilts. But I made a nice design and I thought it would look beautiful done in shadow trapunto. And I started to make it. And I am happy to report that I fell in love with the technique again!
Wishing you a great sewing week,
Geta

When I saw your first photo I thought how tricky it might be working with such a big piece of organza. Whatever you make it will look beautiful. So looking forward to seeing it completed.

This looks like an interesting design! My days of doing anything on the floor are gone, I use my outdoor picnic table with a heavy plastic cloth over it. Still the weather here in Australia is probably more suited to outdoor pinning!
Your book is wonderful and I'm looking forward to trying out your technique. I just need to clear up a few other projects first! (Like most quilters I guess!)

BTW, I'm a floor girl, too! I tell my kids it keeps me young and flexible, hahahha.
Best wishes!
