Maybe you already know: I LOVE rainbows and pencils! So much that some time ago I purchased some pencil images and I printed them on fabric, using Spoonflower's service. Now, I hardly have the heart to cut into that fabric! And I would love to keep these vibrant colors forever! So that I thought to laminate some fabric and I made a laminate pouch. I used this easy pattern and quickly stitched … [Read more...]
What I have learned sewing mini bags
What are the craziest things you have ever sewed? And I am not talking about quilts that took you months or years to sew! I love pretty little things, and the mini bags are among them! Of course, the size makes them so sweet, but the fabric choice is part of the sweetness too! 17 bags below, and it all started with a pretty bundle of fabric I had a few years ago (Quite Contrary - Riley … [Read more...]
Large quilted bag
And this is the bag for my sister Oana; she wanted a bag with front pockets too, but a bigger bag. At first, I thought to search the original Amelie pattern on my computer and print it bigger. Then I realized that I already have a pattern for a bigger bag - Nicole. Since this bag is very large, I printed all the templates at 90% and here is the bag- a good size for a big everyday … [Read more...]
Quilted purse with front pockets – the best idea for a gift
It was the time to sew new bags for my sisters! I made this bag for Nina 7 years ago, and she still wears it (what a bad sister she has!). The fabric is extremely faded, the straps have all the stitching broken, but she still wears it, because she loves those two deep pockets on the front, which are so easily accessible! She doesn't care about the zippered pocket that all my bags have on the … [Read more...]
A large quilted tote bag
I need a bag for a gift and since I don't know the fabric preference of the recipient, I thought it's safe to stay away from bold prints and colors; this is what I chose: any woman loves flowers and pink, right? My favorite gifts to sew! I was wondering what interfacing to use and then I recalled that some time ago I came to the conclusion that the quilted bags are the best bags to give as … [Read more...]
Faux leather pouches
Do you know what fabric is this? It's a laser cut faux leather, a very fine and stretch material, used in the garment industry. I knew that it's not strong enough for using in bags, but I thought that it's lovely to see the cut away motifs highlighted by the bright color of the fabric used underneath, so I bought it. Three years later, I thought it's time to make a pouch or two! So … [Read more...]
Easy zipper pouch pattern
I love sewing pouches, I think we never have too many! My family and friends always appreciate them, so I continue to sew pouches for gifts! How about a pouch that can be sewn in less than 20 minutes? This is the most important feature of my new pouches. Cool way to stitch the lining- it adds a nice finishing touch to the zipper and also makes the construction of the pouch quick and … [Read more...]
Stylish faux leather shopping bag
When I need to sew a gift for a friend, I can't think of anything else than bags, shopping bags and pouches! So here is the new faux leather shopping bag! I used this pattern and I modified it a little, I made it bigger. The flowers add such a nice touch! I love faux leather more than anything else! It has a beautiful drape, like no other fabric+interfacing combination I could … [Read more...]
Very large tote bag
I love piecing faux leather! I use the walking foot when sewing faux leather;I have 3 or 4 types of faux leather and on some it works better than on other. And because the seams can't be pressed with an iron, I stitch down the seam allowances to keep the seams open. And here is the very large bag I made for the new mom in our family- my niece. Last year I made this one for my sister Nico … [Read more...]
A new large tote bag
Here is one of the last projects of 2015! A new large tote bag for a new mom in our family. I made this pattern more than 5 years ago, when my youngest sister became mom- she uses her bag all the time. The floral fabric looks like denim but it is lighter in weight. The other fabric and the lining is heavyweight cotton from Ikea. It's a big bag, perfect for when you need to pack … [Read more...]
