I am in love with these new boxes. What I love most is that the center box is taller than the other boxes that surround it. The difference is only 0.5'' so that it is not too visible in the picture. But I plan to make another set or use this idea for another design. These are cute too. I spent a lot of time choosing fabrics from the huge box of Fusions fat quarters. Having too many … [Read more...]
Hearts again…
So I made a new box. This time, I like more the heart's shape. And I made a little heart purse too. One seam was a little tricky to sew... but just a little... Maybe it was because of the small size (it's only 1'' deep)...Maybe it will be easier to sew the second one. I love the ric-rac handle. I added a little piece of Velcro on the ends of the handle. But no more heart boxes, … [Read more...]

The first try... Not the best... I have to make some changes... I just can't learn some lessons. It is a prototype, why did I use the last piece of red polka dot fabric ? Have a great weekend, Geta … [Read more...]
Boxes with Love
You might remember the gift I sent to my friend Sanda for Christmas. I thought Sanda needs a container to keep all these together and because I couldn't find any beautiful tin for this purpose, I had to be creative and make my own tin. And because working with metal still has secrets for me (some day I will have to learn how to work with that wonderful Mod Podge), I had to work with … [Read more...]
New Fabric Boxes
I did not buy a new camera, I did not change the photographer, outside it is still winter and a cloudy weather so the next photos are not good at all...sorry... Here is a small part of what keeps me away from quilting. I started to make new boxes and now I can't stop. I finally find a use for this fabric! New Fabric Box
After the pretty little things I made (here and here) for Christmas I just had to make a box, too. I made an octagonal one... and I covered the top edges with organza ruffle trim. Making boxes is addictive! Different colors, different fabric combinations, different shapes and sizes, different edge treatments... Sorry for the bad pictures, my camera doesn't like red color. I hope you … [Read more...]
I did finish with the bowls
These are the last ones, I think. Shadow trapunto looks gorgeous on these bowls, but they require a lot of work... On this pink bowl I made a lot of mistakes, finally it looks good and I like the double-stitched bottom.Cutting the slits: A flat or a deep bowl ? It depends of how large you cut the slits and how large the bottom will be. And a few "kaleidoscope bowls".They don't need to be filled: … [Read more...]
I didn’t finish with the bowls !

A different bowl
I finished it yesterday and I love it ! I made it in a different way than the one posted in this tutorial. I love the wavy edges.Because I made it with a large bottom, it looks rather like a deep plate than a bowl. Of course, it's totally useful: too pretty to be filled ! L-am terminat ieri si ce-mi place ! L-am facut in alt mod decat cel din acest tutorial. Imi plac marginile valurite. … [Read more...]
Tutorial – Quilted bowl
Here is a tutorial for a quilted hexagonal bowl. And reversible! PIN this for later The bowl measures 13 inches from a point to the opposite point. I made it using my shadow trapunto technique. I used these templates: Download the templates here (this is a "pdf" file; you will need Adobe Reader to open it). After you print and cut the templates, check out that the … [Read more...]
