I finally finished one of the two quilt tops I made some time ago. Since I used a new technique, it was a fun project and I was anxious to see it finished. Do you remember the top? At the time I said after quilting it should look significantly different. I wanted to use the design for a quilt with a mosaic effect (like this "Secret Flower Garden" quilt). Then I changed my mind and instead … [Read more...]
Free Raw Edge Applique Quilt Pattern
I am glad to share with you a new free quilt pattern. It's a small raw edge applique quilt, it measures 14'' x 29''. At this size, the quilting was a lot of fun! At first I wanted to make a two color version, then I remembered that I still have colored thread (the spools used for this Aurifil challenge). Very happy I started to match fabric with thread. The thread is Aurifil 50wt and the … [Read more...]
New quilt patterns
I am so glad I finished these quilts and patterns! The apple quilt is really a fun quilt. At this medium size - 30'' x 34'', the appliques and the quilting were quick and easy. And the paisley motifs fills the space quickly!! I used a thick and fluffy polyester batting and I basted the quilt sandwich with adhesive spray, I like this basting method for small or medium size quilts. It's … [Read more...]
Big Patchwork Pillows
I used two of the cute blocks made some time ago and I made two big pillows. 20''. And I quilted both with the walking foot and a dense grid. The octagon in the center measures less than 1'' (after washing) - really cute! Now to quilt the last three blocks, I will make a table runner. Happy quilting! Edited: … [Read more...]
New Patchwork Quilt
I finished this quilt a few days ago. All the fabrics are from the Fusions collection by Robert Kaufman. It's a decent size - 36'', it was a pleasure to quilt it. Quilted with Aurifil 50wt. The center octagon measures 2''. The center design measures 28''. From 2'' to 28'' in just three steps! The border is 5'' wide and I chose to quilt double feathers (feather in feather) on … [Read more...]
Modern Dresden Fan/Plate Quilt
I am happy to finally share with you my new quilt. A version like this I made first in 2011 and since then I have seen many other on Internet. I don't know why it took me so long to make this one, because this block is fun and the result spectacular. To me, the most exciting thing is that no applique or curved piecing is involved. Only easy piecing! There is no sign of spring here yet, so I am … [Read more...]
Quilted Pillow Inspiration
I have a big box of fat quarters from this wonderful collection - Fossil Fern (Benartex), once you start to use them, it's hard to stop! The collection has wonderful colors, and the multicolor fabrics are really special. So here are my four quilted pillows! The colored design is outlined with quilting, the small white space inside the design remained unquilted. It was fun to … [Read more...]
New Raw Edge Applique Design – quilt and pillows
I know, too many pictures, but I can't help myself!I finished this larger design as wall hanging and I chose to hang it vertically. The two smaller pieces became pillows. I love to quilt with the walking foot... ... but only on small pieces! And not on too many pieces! So on the second pillow I free motion quilted feathers. I loved to do it, too bad it was a small area! Everything was … [Read more...]
New Three Color Quilt and Pattern
I am finally able to share my latest quilt with you. Because it is a big quilt, I had to take it outside for photos. It measures 78''x84''. The design was inspired by this quilt I made last year. I LOVE its simplicity. Simple design and fabric work well with elaborate quilting and I was happy to do it. It was cloudy and it even started to snow! I think it is one of my favorite … [Read more...]
Valentine’s Day Quilt
Here is my latest heart quilt - an applique heart design enhanced with trapunto. I finished the 16'' design into a pillow, but the design would look great on a wall hanging, too. And here is some of the in-progress pictures. Trapunto batting placed underneath the fabric. I stitched the lettering with free motion quilting and a darning foot. I used white thread for … [Read more...]
