I LOVE this little wholecloth quilt. I think it was the time to make one, since I love so much playing with thread. So here is a first try. It all started with a good water soluble marker. Everything until now was stitched with the walking foot. At this stage I thought it is lovely, but what if I add more quilting? I washed the piece and took some pictures (just to play … [Read more...]
Heart quilt patterns
Here are my first quilts of 2016. Heart designs for mini wall hangings, or pillows or a center piece on a table. This is "Happy Heart", done in a multicolor Fossil Fern fabric. A 14'' design that was quickly appliqued and quilted. I worked with just one funny piece! I thought that the simple (but wonderful) design deserves a finishing in style so I added piping to the … [Read more...]
New quilt, new technique!
I finally finished one of the two quilt tops I made some time ago. Since I used a new technique, it was a fun project and I was anxious to see it finished. Do you remember the top? At the time I said after quilting it should look significantly different. I wanted to use the design for a quilt with a mosaic effect (like this "Secret Flower Garden" quilt). Then I changed my mind and instead … [Read more...]
Free Raw Edge Applique Quilt Pattern
I am glad to share with you a new free quilt pattern. It's a small raw edge applique quilt, it measures 14'' x 29''. At this size, the quilting was a lot of fun! At first I wanted to make a two color version, then I remembered that I still have colored thread (the spools used for this Aurifil challenge). Very happy I started to match fabric with thread. The thread is Aurifil 50wt and the … [Read more...]
New quilt patterns
I am so glad I finished these quilts and patterns! The apple quilt is really a fun quilt. At this medium size - 30'' x 34'', the appliques and the quilting were quick and easy. And the paisley motifs fills the space quickly!! I used a thick and fluffy polyester batting and I basted the quilt sandwich with adhesive spray, I like this basting method for small or medium size quilts. It's … [Read more...]

“No Stress” Free Motion Quilting – free ebook

In 14 years I have made many projects: many were fun and easy but some were very challenging. I have learned a lot from my own mistakes. Now you … [Read more...]
New Patchwork Quilt
I finished this quilt a few days ago. All the fabrics are from the Fusions collection by Robert Kaufman. It's a decent size - 36'', it was a pleasure to quilt it. Quilted with Aurifil 50wt. The center octagon measures 2''. The center design measures 28''. From 2'' to 28'' in just three steps! The border is 5'' wide and I chose to quilt double feathers (feather in feather) on … [Read more...]
Starting your Free Motion Quilting Journey
Free motion quilting could be intimidating. As a beginner quilter, we see the work of other quilters and we think we will never be able to quilt as beautiful as them. We know the feeling because many of us where there. But we know that the hardest thing is to start. So I thought to include a few (famous!) words of encouragement in my new free motion quilting ebook. Stay tuned for a … [Read more...]

I do love the look of quilted feathers but I love even more that it is so easy to quilt them!
