The beginning of my free motion quilting journey wasn't easy. I deciphered my first quilting books with a magnifying glass. One of the hardest things I had to figure out was how the free motion quilting foot works. Now I ADORE free motion quilting. In 14 years I have made many projects: many were fun and easy but some were very challenging. I have learned a lot from my own mistakes. Now you … [Read more...]
Changes, changes…
Hello friends, I don't have any new pretty quilt picture to share with you today. Only a few plans for my future quilting life, plans that include YOU too! First, I want to move my blog to a self-hosted Word Press website. I need a mobile friendly website and I decided it's time to work on that. So I made the first step: I bought a new domain name and hosting for it! Now I am looking for … [Read more...]
The last WIP for a while
I know I said no more new quilt tops until I finish the current UFO's! But I promise, this is the last one! Starting tomorrow, I will quilt them all! I love the solid version I made a few days ago and I thought that a version in Fossil Fern fabrics would be even more beautiful. A version inspired by the color palette used on this quilt. Did I say that the quilting will make it … [Read more...]

New Patchwork Quilt
I finished this quilt a few days ago. All the fabrics are from the Fusions collection by Robert Kaufman. It's a decent size - 36'', it was a pleasure to quilt it. Quilted with Aurifil 50wt. The center octagon measures 2''. The center design measures 28''. From 2'' to 28'' in just three steps! The border is 5'' wide and I chose to quilt double feathers (feather in feather) on … [Read more...]
Design Wall for Quilters
I found that the easiest way to photograph quilt tops is after you made the quilt sandwich. The fabric sticks nicely on cotton batting, keeping the quilt top perfect and flat. This top is already quilted and washed, tomorrow I will add the binding! For my new sewing studio I plan to make a portable design wall, covered with cotton batting or maybe flannel. While I rarely need it … [Read more...]
Quick Free Motion Quilting
I am having much fun with this quilt! It's small (38''). You probably think that I am obsessed with feathers! I do love the look of quilted feathers but I love even more that it is so easy to quilt them! If you want to practice and draw feathers on paper, I can assure you that quilting them is easier than drawing them! It's important to quilt on small shapes. This is why I divided the … [Read more...]
