I made these designs for my newsletter subscribers and here is the reason the second design is not complete. I quilted the design and then turned it into a pouch. The center space is for the zipper opening! I thought the design is a nice reason for more free motion quilting practice. And when the quilting was done, why not turn it into something useful? It took me 10 minutes to … [Read more...]

Because from time to time I receive messages like this from quilters: "These quilts are amazing, but what exactly is the reverse applique technique?, I decided to share with you a Reverse Applique Quilt Tutorial I made my first little piece in July 2017 and the more I use and design, the more I love this FABULOUS technique. Sewing for Christmas- easy and fun ideas
I can't say fussy cutting is my passion, but when it comes to sewing for Christmas, I do whatever it takes to make some pretty fussy cut projects. I also love repetition, so more pieces with the same fussy cut motif make sewing for Christmas even more interesting. This is the starting point of my Folded Flowers pattern and 5'' circles. At first I made these little … [Read more...]
Fabric Star Ornament- pattern for easy Christmas sewing
Hello friends! Long absence on the blog, but I wasn't on vacation! Working hard behind the scene! More about it soon! For now I want to share a new pattern with you - for a fabric star ornament. An easy sewing- great for Christmas and actually, for any celebration! Years ago I made some paper stars, it was so much fun. Making your own fabric
It all started with this: a piece of Kona cotton, some fusible batting and a few Aurifil spools. I started quilting and ... ...ended up with this 12'' x 15'' piece. Looking even better after washing! I used Aurifil 50 wt for this little sample. I did not want to use heavier thread, as there is a lot of backtracking and stitching on top of other stitches. This stitching … [Read more...]
How to make continuous bias binding for quilts
Do you use bias binding? It's a must if your quilt has curved edges! I don't make often quilts with curved edges so I usually stay away from it. I prefer the straight binding, made with strips cut on the grain. A few days ago I prepared this piece of fabric and in order to achieve the desired effect for my binding, I had to make a bias binding, with fabric strips cut on the bias. I wanted to … [Read more...]
A special binding
Hello friends! Do you love preparing and sewing binding to your quilts? For me, this is not a favorite task. I want to finish it as soon as possible! Usually, I cut straight strips from one of the fabrics used in the quilt and this is my binding. Many times I am lazy and I join the strips with straight seams (not a crime, of course, but here quilt police is right: the bias seams are … [Read more...]
30-Minute Fabric Bowls Pattern
If you have some fabric scraps that you cherish and don't know what to use them for, here is an idea. These little bowls measure about 7'' and I needed 10'' fabric and interfacing pieces. They are great for storing work-in-progress projects or for creating beautiful decor, for Easter, as example. The best thing about them: you can sew 2 or 3 in one hour! You need a template, … [Read more...]
New Pockets with Love
Here are my new Pockets with Love (pattern here). I love this fun technique - FOLD-PRESS-SEW - origami adapted for working with fabric! It uses two layers of fabric and this time, instead of bulky seam allowances, I chose to work with layers of fabric kept together by fusible web. This is, actually, my favorite way of sewing these little gift bags. I should have used a pinking blade to cut the … [Read more...]

Daisies are among my favorite flowers and I was so anxious to buy a few prints from the "Oops a Daisy" collection (by Kanvas Studio for Benartex).
