I just used the last piece of one of my all time favorite fabrics: the green print of the "Good Fortune" collection by Kate Spain. I made a "fat" pouch... and a slim pouch, in pink fabric. Because I love so much this collection, I was curious to see what else I stitched with this beautiful fabric. Here is: a large version of "Danielle" bag. Two frame purses! and … [Read more...]
Some gifts
I did not sew too many gifts in December. It's not that I did not want to. But a cold kept me in bed for days. I loved to sew these little pouches. It took me just a couple of hours. It is so easy to sew with faux leather - you don't need interfacing. Because one of them was for a little girl, for that one I used a print and fusible fleece. I don't have imagination when it comes to … [Read more...]
Kokeshi Dolls
I have an addiction for these cute little dolls! But I am still able to keep it in the limits of common sense :) Because how cool it is to buy all these from Romania ?? Ordering today and receiving the fabric tomorrow ? I know, most of you know the feeling! From Fabrix. "Hello Tokyo" by Lisa Tilse for Robert Kaufman The huge doll below measures 12'', it would look … [Read more...]
Christmas Gift #1
I am in love with my new pouch with pocket. I made it for my sister Nina, to match her bag. There are a few details that I like very much:the top zipper... this type of corner (the lining looks the same, but it's too bulky inside, I have to change this next time )... And I love most that I did not have to add tabs to the zipper ends- I just hate this step! It's a super quick … [Read more...]
Quilting faux leather
Over the years I quilted different fabrics: of course, most of them were quilt fabrics. But I quilted home decor fabrics as well, velvet, denim and textured fabrics. Now it was the turn of faux leather to be quilted. This one below is a very thin fabric; I don't think it is suitable for bags (maybe for a small pouch). I gave 1 meter to my niece for a skirt. Can't wait to see it. This … [Read more...]
Canadian Smocking
I tried this technique on a piece of faux leather - and I love it. I used pearl cotton thread to make the knots- it wasn't hard at all; I think I have a type of faux leather that is easy to work with. Now to turn it into an useful piece- it seems a little tricky. Have a great week, Geta … [Read more...]
Topstitching on faux leather
I have a few colors of faux leather and I can't sew anything else until I use them all; so I started! This time I stitched the seam allowances down with a very thick, decorative thread. It's 100% polyester and shiny. I think it looks like the thread used for topstitching on jeans. I have a few colors, I am glad I found an use for them. NOTE: In this picture I did not stitch with … [Read more...]
Pretty, and it is not fabric
I saw these on Pinterest, I pinned them and I now I own them. While in Paris in searching for the famous macaroons, I found a Cath Kidston shop. My hubby probably thought I am a little crazy - seeing my happy dance! He has no idea who is Cath Kidston. It wasn't easy to choose the favorite thing! I bought her book too - inspirational! I am more than … [Read more...]
Faux Leather Cardholder
These days I am playing with faux leather. I wanted to cut out a pattern from it and I tried the technique on a small thing. I printed the pattern on paper and I created a stencil. I used a stencil cutter from Olfa. Then I transferred the pattern to the back of the faux leather and cut it out - with the same stencil cutter. It worked wonderfully. I made a cardholder. On … [Read more...]
Laminated fabric
I made a new double pouch; it is a little wrinkly because... it's made with laminated fabric. I always wanted to buy laminated fabric but as it is more expensive and bulkier than the regular cotton, it is still on my wish list. But a few months ago I had a chance to buy "Lamifix" in Romania (Kreativshop) and today I finally laminated fabric. I used the product manufactured by … [Read more...]
