The snowflakes are raw edge applique.
Under snowflakes there is trapunto.
Learn to use stencils!
No need to transfer the applique design onto fabric 6 times. Work with a stencil!
Learn to sew trapunto. Without water-soluble thread!
I did trapunto under the snowflakes. This is an optional step, but it is worth the time and effort, because the design will have a more pronounced 3D appearance.

I really enjoy your patterns. Very clearly laid out, useful pictures, in fact, everything to make creating quilts a pleasure. -Heather
When I read your patterns I think you give a lot of extra information to the person buying (for instance by giving other color options and being very detailed in your explanations to make sure the buyer understands the process) more than many other pattern writers I’ve come across. -Brit
I bought your patterns and they’re the best I ever bought and I bought already a lot. -Corinna
