With Easter around the corner, on Pinterest there are lots of pretty pictures of... carrot treat boxes made out of card stock. I Love Precut Quilts – the book
Hello friends! Do you buy precuts? When I see a collection I really love, I like to buy a fat quarter bundle. I like to see that beautiful fabric on many small projects! A few months ago I had to make a quilt in a day and the squares of a few charm packs saved my sanity and made me a productive quilter!! This is the other benefit of using precuts: it saves you time! No need to find in your … [Read more...]

A new mosaic quilt series
Hello friends! It's time to show you my new work in progress! One design and eight different ways to color it. See below the first two. See here the difference between the two colorways. The design measures 25'' and I am not sure how to finish it. The mosaic technique is the one I used for this quilt; I can't wait to quilt and wash them - those lines that will disappear … [Read more...]

Quilting with THICK thread- 12wt
Hello friends! Do you have thick thread in your box? How thick? We quilt usually with 40wt or 50 wt. Sometimes we need thinner thread, and other times, when we want to really show off the quilting, then we need a thicker thread. 28wt (30wt) thread works nicely, but 12wt is really a different story! You have to stitch with all these threads to see the benefits of each one. These days I … [Read more...]
Miniature Heart Boxes
I love sewing pretty little things (have you seen my miniature bags?). So naturally, I had to sew some miniature heart boxes too (pattern here). At first, it was this one, that measures 3'' x 3'' x 1 1/2''. I thought it is so cute that I should try to make even a smaller one. I printed a 2'' heart and here is! If you want to sew a miniature, watch your fingers! Keep them … [Read more...]

Nesting seams – flat quilt tops and accurate piecing
How do you keep the patchwork quilt tops flat? With the proper pressing of the seams. Some quilters prefer to press their seams open; for many patterns, it's a great option. I am not a fan, I do it only when it is absolutely necessary. I prefer pressing to one side. But for the easiest and quickest patchwork quilt a beginner quilter could sew (click here to see the quilt), nesting … [Read more...]
