Here is one of the last projects of 2015! A new large tote bag for a new mom in our family. I made this pattern more than 5 years ago, when my youngest sister became mom- she uses her bag all the time. The floral fabric looks like denim but it is lighter in weight. The other fabric and the lining is heavyweight cotton from Ikea. It's a big bag, perfect for when you need to pack … [Read more...]
Card holder tutorial
If you need a "last-minute" gift, here is a fun, quick and easy little project - a card holder that everyone needs. (This post is the second in the series "5 Quick Gifts to sew for Christmas". See all the posts here.) Here is what you need: 2 pieces of fabric and one piece of fusible web (Wonder Under, Vliesofix/Bondaweb, Heat and Bond, Steam a Seam). New technique, new quilt, new pattern
I finally finished this quilt top (fusible raw edge applique) I made last summer. I love the different look achieved after quilting. What do you think? It was a pleasure to select the fabrics (Fossil Fern by Benartex) - it looks beautiful even without quilting. When the fusing fun was over, I had to choose the color of thread to use for quilting. Big, big decision! I knew it has to … [Read more...]
New Quilted Pillow and Patterns
Here is a pillow cover I made last year! It was my first pattern in a magazine! This pattern appeared first in the American Quilter Magazine (May2015) The design is raw edge appliqued... and I am happy that I managed to quilt it entirely with the walking foot! Two other additional designs/sizes are available. Here is the second design made in soft solid colors. Quick, … [Read more...]
My latest fabric bowl
It looks more like a box than a bowl (the sides are tall-5'') -I just wanted to keep my pretty boys and girls intact! For the first time I used Decovil interfacing (the heavyweight stuff) for a bowl/box and it works wonderfully! I still have some blocks from this collection (bigger and so beautiful) and I hope to use them soon! Happy weekend, Geta … [Read more...]
My favorite gifts to sew (and give)
I love when my sisters come to me with a special request: "do you have something special for a gift"? I sewed this bag a few months ago and I thought it's not enough for a special gift so I put together two assorted pouches. Do you know what is the easiest and fastest pouch to sew? The one that doesn't need interfacing! I have faux leather and faux suede (which are just perfect) but I … [Read more...]
New Fabric Box Tutorial
I know many of you love fabric boxes! Here is a new box- it's so quick and easy to sew it and it's perfect for showcasing a wonderful little piece of fabric. Here are my little boxes: the pretty fabric scrap measures 6''x6''. The base of the box measures 4''x6'' and the front side is 2'' tall. I sewed these boxes exactly the same way I sewed these flower boxes (please review that … [Read more...]
Easy fussy cutting- quick quilting tips
How many times we don't even try something new because we don't have the right tool on hand? And many times it's because we don't know the right information. I know that for years I wasn't interested in applique because I did not have a reliable water soluble marker (now I found the perfect markers and I can't stop designing applique quilts and patterns). I also know that I constantly avoid … [Read more...]

Free Quilt DesignNew free quilt design (actually, two!) for my newsletter subscribers. This is one of those designs that could be stitched in so many techniques! Applique (you could use even felt for the applique pieces!); you could add trapunto under the appliques, you could use only trapunto or just sew a simple wholecloth. But my favorite technique for this design is shadow trapunto! All … [Read more...]
