We all sew pillow covers, right? Maybe it's not as exciting as sewing a new quilt, but from time to time we have to sew ordinary things. So let's make this experience an extraordinary one and sew a beautiful pillow using this quick pillow cover tutorial. Pillow insert size: 16'' x 16'' Pillow cover size: approx 15'' x 15'' (I like to make the cover a little smaller than the insert). Fabric … [Read more...]

Free heart pattern for quilts, coasters, placemats
Hello friends! I noticed you love heart designs and patterns! And I thought to make a new design for you - but for a smaller and faster project. You could use this design for quilts, pillows, placemats or coasters. I made two coasters- this is such a SWEET project! The coasters measure 7''. They require 8'' x 8'' pieces of fabric, fusible web (for the appliques) and … [Read more...]
Heart quilt patterns
Here are my first quilts of 2016. Heart designs for mini wall hangings, or pillows or a center piece on a table. This is "Happy Heart", done in a multicolor Fossil Fern fabric. A 14'' design that was quickly appliqued and quilted. I worked with just one funny piece! I thought that the simple (but wonderful) design deserves a finishing in style so I added piping to the … [Read more...]

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a lovely holiday season. Now, are you ready for new quilting/sewing adventures? I am thinking of Valentine's Day and I started a few new projects. Today I made two "Pockets with Love", in heart shape. (this was my first pattern, launched 6 years ago!). These fabrics (Ann Kelle for Robert Kaufman) are just perfect for these pretty little things. Very large tote bag
I love piecing faux leather! I use the walking foot when sewing faux leather;I have 3 or 4 types of faux leather and on some it works better than on other. And because the seams can't be pressed with an iron, I stitch down the seam allowances to keep the seams open. And here is the very large bag I made for the new mom in our family- my niece. Last year I made this one for my sister Nico … [Read more...]
A new large tote bag
Here is one of the last projects of 2015! A new large tote bag for a new mom in our family. I made this pattern more than 5 years ago, when my youngest sister became mom- she uses her bag all the time. The floral fabric looks like denim but it is lighter in weight. The other fabric and the lining is heavyweight cotton from Ikea. It's a big bag, perfect for when you need to pack … [Read more...]

New technique, new quilt, new pattern
I finally finished this quilt top (fusible raw edge applique) I made last summer. I love the different look achieved after quilting. What do you think? It was a pleasure to select the fabrics (Fossil Fern by Benartex) - it looks beautiful even without quilting. When the fusing fun was over, I had to choose the color of thread to use for quilting. Big, big decision! I knew it has to … [Read more...]
