At first, I thought it is boring to sew again this older pattern of mine- Danielle bag. I don't even remember how many Danielle bags I sewed in the last years! Now that it is finished, it is a lovely reminder of how beautiful and interesting this pattern is. What could be better for a bag (and us!) than a front pocket with easy access? All the fabric used is heavyweight cotton from Ikea. … [Read more...]
New Three Color Quilt and Pattern
I am finally able to share my latest quilt with you. Because it is a big quilt, I had to take it outside for photos. It measures 78''x84''. The design was inspired by this quilt I made last year. I LOVE its simplicity. Simple design and fabric work well with elaborate quilting and I was happy to do it. It was cloudy and it even started to snow! I think it is one of my favorite … [Read more...]
Heart Pillow
Do you remember the heart pillow I made some time ago? Anja Richards used the same pattern and stitched a pillow with a different look. She used an interesting technique. She did not mark the design on the top fabric. It was printed on another piece of fabric that was used as a lining under the top fabric. "The design was dark enough to see through the top but light enough not to show, … [Read more...]
Finally finished!
But still looking forward to a better day to take photos of my new quilt! … [Read more...]
Faux Leather Shopping Bags
So here is the faux leather shopping bag. Because the wrong side of faux leather is really ugly, I thought to add lining. It is as easy to sew it with lining as it is without it. Do you like the assorted straps? It is a little bigger than the previous versions. Now see how hard working I am! I made these in 5 minutes! I would die to have that green in the top right corner! Happy … [Read more...]
Shopping bags
I couldn't imagine that sewing shopping bags is so much fun! I have now one more reason to look for beautiful home decor fabric. And of course, I had to make some bags from quilt weight cotton too. They don't have lining, so you can't use them for things that weight too much. I LOVE them because they don't take much space in a bag. One more bag (out of faux leather) on the … [Read more...]
Valentine’s Day Quilt
Here is my latest heart quilt - an applique heart design enhanced with trapunto. I finished the 16'' design into a pillow, but the design would look great on a wall hanging, too. And here is some of the in-progress pictures. Trapunto batting placed underneath the fabric. I stitched the lettering with free motion quilting and a darning foot. I used white thread for … [Read more...]
A New Dresden Fan Quilt
I am making a Dresden Fan quilt. A new version of the quilt I made in 2011. I am using polka dots again, just different polka dots... I have even white on white polka dots... If you remember, I am not fond of turned edge appliques. That's why I chose to turn the Dresden Fan block into an octagon then into a square. Who doesn't love piecing squares? This is definitely a fun block! I … [Read more...]
Trapunto Fun!
More about it on Monday. I sent this design to nine quilters, are you making progress on it? Will you share your quilt on Monday too? I am really anxious to see your versions. Now, after some trapunto fun, I am having fun with colors and polka dots. Pictures tomorrow! Geta … [Read more...]
Work in progress- a Valentine’s Day Quilt Design
Valentine's Day Quilt Design This will be my new free pattern/tutorial for you. I am not sure how I will continue it...but I will finish it in about one week. The design measures 16'' - I think I will make a pillow. Anyone willing to sew this design on the next week? Wouldn't be great to see a few different interpretations of the same design? To give some more ideas to quilters anxious to sew … [Read more...]
