Tonight I hope I will have time to edit the photos of one of my latest quilts. It is one of my favorite quilts! Here is the thread I used to quilt the background. Usually I quilt with just one color. After I quilted this one, the idea of using many colors is more and more appealing to me. This is the thread I received for the Aurifil Challenge; you wouldn't say, but you can sew a lot with … [Read more...]
Inspiration for baby quilts
What could be more special than a baby quilt? There are not too many babies in our family. They grow up fast and soon I have to make some new quilts. So I reviewed the baby quilts I made in the last few years. Here are a few, in case you are looking for some baby quilts inspiration. Click on the pictures for details. 1. This is one of my favorite quilts. Piecing "building blocks" was a lot of … [Read more...]
Sewing gifts for boys
Whenever I have to sew something for boys (and for men too), I am in trouble! These are gifts for my eight year godson and all the ideas came from his mother! I love this small "pocket". His mother explained me he needs something simple and small, to keep the keys, bus tickets and some money. And this was my idea for "simple"! Please ignore the horrible topstitching on the … [Read more...]
Free Motion Quilting
I advice my customers who work on patterns that require marking the quilt top to start the quilt when they have time to finish it quickly. The less time the colored marking stays on fabric the better! And I started this quilt three months ago! Now it is finally quilted and is waiting to be washed. I hope there will be no surprise (because I used these markers that I already tested)! I … [Read more...]
A lesson!
So I stitched these beautiful bags. They are made from quilting fabric and Decovil light interfacing. The lining is heavyweight fabric from Ikea. This is one of my older bag pattern, Chantal. I don't like pink but this combination with gingham is irresistible! I spent some time pressing every seam, after each step. And I pressed them again, in the end. I made the best I … [Read more...]

Floral Quilt on Black!
Working with black is very unusual for me. Inspired by a bouquet of daisies and red roses from her garden, my sister Nina convinced me to make a flower sphere in these color. And since we had to use white for the flowers, we had to work with a dark background and she chose black. She wanted black so it was her job to transfer the design from paper to fabric! She chose the colors for the flowers … [Read more...]

Interesting back!
I posted so many pictures of this quilt, I just couldn't include more at the time. While looking for something on my computer, I found these pictures and I remember how excited it was this phase in the process of making this quilt. I think removing the paper templates is so rewarding for any quilter! with paper templates still attached without paper templates And here is how I … [Read more...]
Shadow Trapunto Quilt
Here is a Mariner's Compass block on a 12-side shadow trapunto quilt. It measures 17''. Most of my quilts are free motion quilted, but for this trapunto design I used the walking foot. I couldn't have stitched straight lines without it. These shadow trapunto quilts are truly two sided. On the front you see shadow trapunto, on the back is visible the trapunto. See other shadow … [Read more...]
