Let's see some tips for free motion quilting with very thick thread. After I bought the fabric and thread for a wholecloth quilt I thought that I am ready to start! Actually, I wasn't prepared at all! I did not want to wait even one more day and I started the adventure of a wholecloth quilt quilted with Aurifil 12 wt thread. Click on the picture below to learn more about this … [Read more...]
The Star of a Quilt
Quilt = fabric + batting + thread. It's amazing what quilters can create with simple things like these. Let's add some colors (and a design too) and we couldn't define a quilt better. Many times all the elements of a quilt contribute to its success. And sometimes one element is more important than other. I am happy that I managed to make quilts in different techniques that show what … [Read more...]
Quilt Labels
I printed my own quilt labels on fabric. At Spoonflower. They measure 4'' x 4'' and 90 pieces fitted onto one yard of Kona cotton. Now I would have loved a less striking design(!) but if I think better, "color" is the word that perfectly describes what I do and who I am. I had a great experience with this print service. They even thanked me in Romanian! How cool is that ? More about what else … [Read more...]
My New Wholecloth Quilt
I finally finished the adventure of the wholecloth quilt. The quilt is big and I couldn't photograph it properly inside my home. Maybe in the future I will take some pictures outside. I found even a name for it: " My Rainbow Flower Garden"! Very proud of me - you know I always ask YOU to name my quilts! Here it is on the floor. It measures 75''. Since I made this mini quilt a few months … [Read more...]
Painted Binding

Blogger’s Quilt Festival
It's time for Blogger's Quilt Festival and I am still stitching on my new Aurifil Quilt. So I thought to enter one of my favorite quilts from last year in the Original Design category. The quilt measures 40'' and it was hand pieced using English paper piecing. The pattern is here. A few challenges, a few lessons to learn and the top was done. It was fun to quilt feathers (following … [Read more...]
A new adventure- Aurifil 12wt
I love beautiful prints on anything. And I am addicted to mugs and tins. These are a few things I came back with from Vienna. I will gladly go again there for a few more :) I found the perfect things to put in them! So why do you do when you want to try something new? Like Aurifil 12wt ? You would (should) buy a spool. Not me! First, I bought a color card - just to be sure that I will … [Read more...]
New Faux Leather Bags
One for me and one for my sister Nina. The colors are even more beautiful than the ones in these pictures. Nina wanted a zipper closure. It is not hard to sew it but I like magnetic snaps more. Zipper on the back - it's unbelievable how quickly the zipper stock is over! And this is mine - these became now my favorite tones of green. I still have some new colors to combine. … [Read more...]
New tote bag and pouches
Hello everybody! How are you? I am glad to be home again. I loved Vienna and Robbie Williams but there is no place like home! I have many projects on the "to do" list but the most pressing was a gift for a friend. I have no idea if she likes red! I hope so! This is such a quick project- it took me four hours and more than one hour I pieced the squares. I forgot to sew a zippered pocket on the … [Read more...]
