I am at the quilting stage now. I read on Patricia's blog that she uses a sheet of glass over the quilt top to test different quilting designs. I think it is a brilliant idea. I don't have glass so I used a piece of transparent plastic (the one used for laminating paper); you need water soluble pen then test, test, test... I can't say that I have too much patience when it comes to … [Read more...]
Faux Leather Bag in Argyle pattern
I and my sister Nina make a lot of plans. She will retire in about 4 years and we dream to grow my little business and work together! For now she took three weeks off from her job and we thought we will stitch a lot! The first week my nephew Alex was sick - we stitched nothing! The second week Alex went to his home but he left the cold - we stitched almost nothing! This is the third week … [Read more...]
Beach Bag
If you live near sea, then you need a beach bag, right ? I made this bag for my friend Sanda. The fabrics are Ann Kelle (R Kaufman). I used the same technique used on this bag, but I changed the size. I love this large pocket... I added even a zipper closure! It's very roomy... I used Decovil light interfacing. I see more bags like this one in the future! Have a … [Read more...]

Pouches Galore
If you remember the sweet little quilted pieces from last week, here is what they became! The darling prints are from the "Petal" collection by Tanya Whelan - I have the entire collection and can't wait to use more of it in the future. I ran out of fusible fleece so I used batting and I quilted everything - such nice texture and nice feel. These two pouches are spacious, they have boxed … [Read more...]
Enjoying then.. failing
One of these days started great! I spent a few hours strip-piecing faux leather. I needed a 70-square piece. Final size of the squares - 1". It was so enjoyable. You couldn't believe how easy it is to achieve accuracy with this material. It sticks to itself so well, making matching seams so easy. The topstitching is not for decoration but for keeping the seam allowances open. I … [Read more...]
Large Tote Bag
More than 3 years ago I made a large tote bag for a new mom in our family - my youngest sister Nico. My little nephew Alex visits with us very often and I am already sick of that bag! I had to make a new one- bigger! The back is different. I love the 2 color straps. The black straps is just a little wider than the white one. Happy sewing! … [Read more...]
