Washable markers for quilts
Some time ago I told you that I use these ultra washable markers to mark my quilts. These are markers for kids, I found them in a supermarket, 12 pieces for about $4! I already use a few on my quilts, but I thought it is time for an in-depth testing. I read that some markers disappear after washing but become visible again if the fabric is exposed to low temperature. So I marked a … [Read more...]
Quilting and texture
Today I wanted to try something new, so I started to play with a Tanya Whelan fabric bundle. These are not the colors I usually use but they are so lovely. The second new thing was this grid quilting. Whenever I see a large quilt quilted with such a grid, I have a great admiration for the quilter. It's easy to quilt small pieces but for large quilts I imagine a lot of patience is … [Read more...]
Tablet case- a first try!
Someone asked me to sew a tablet case. I followed this wonderful technique explained here by one of my Romanian friends (the link is a google translation). It was so quick and easy! I fused a heavyweight interfacing to the outside fabric and fusible fleece to the lining. I added a magnetic snap. But I made a mistake and I had to start over and the whole thing is now too small. I have to … [Read more...]
Favorite Fabric
I just used the last piece of one of my all time favorite fabrics: the green print of the "Good Fortune" collection by Kate Spain. I made a "fat" pouch... and a slim pouch, in pink fabric. Because I love so much this collection, I was curious to see what else I stitched with this beautiful fabric. Here is: a large version of "Danielle" bag. Two frame purses! and … [Read more...]

Some gifts
I did not sew too many gifts in December. It's not that I did not want to. But a cold kept me in bed for days. I loved to sew these little pouches. It took me just a couple of hours. It is so easy to sew with faux leather - you don't need interfacing. Because one of them was for a little girl, for that one I used a print and fusible fleece. I don't have imagination when it comes to … [Read more...]
Wake up to Kona blog hop
I was so excited when I learned about a blog hop where you are asked to sew with Kona cotton. I immediately signed up and patiently waited for this day to come. Thank you Madame Samm and Carol for this new challenge. Here is the quilt I made for this occasion -"Fresh Lemonade"! 35'' x 35'' The lemon slices are raw edge appliqued with fusible web. I am madly in love with … [Read more...]
This and that
Since I never visited a quilt show, I see rosettes and ribbons like this only in pictures. So when our quilt came back from Houston, I was glad to see how it looks like in reality. I took the picture for my friends and I thought some of you might want to see a close- up too. A colored ribbon must be even more beautiful! :) The fabric underneath the ribbon is Kate Spain. The quilt … [Read more...]
WIP
In December I started 5 quilts! I was so excited with my new designs - simple and sweet and easy to make- that I just had to start them all. Most of them are small and I thought I will quilt them all after the New Year. And guess what? I seriously injured my right hand and I don't have too many hopes that I can quilt at least one by Tuesday! I am in a blog hop and Tuesday is my day! We … [Read more...]
