Washed Quilt
All the week I sewed bags (large bags, small bags, I am sick of bags!) and today at 8 PM I thought it is the best time to wash our hexy sphere quilt. I put it in the washing machine, filled the machine with water and after a little soaking, I added some detergent - the same detergent I use for my colored clothes, only half quantity. I washed the quilt at a gentle cycle then I used the spin … [Read more...]
My Coloring Book
I can't be in a book store and not browsing some coloring books. I suppose it happens because I have no talent for drawing by hand. But even only coloring some drawings makes me feel like a magician. I have never aspired to have a coloring book with my name on it! It just happened. C&T Publishing published a few coloring books and one of them features designs from my Shadow Trapunto … [Read more...]
Teach Me – 14- Faux Piped Binding
It's easy and the effect is great. Photo from Color me Quilty. Click to see the tutorial. Thank you, Pat! And here is a favorite thing for the Quilter's Favorites. I love cotton batting, the quilt top sticks so nicely to it, meaning much less chances to develop creases during the quilting. I was puzzled when I read a few days ago that batting (probably not all batting) has a right … [Read more...]
Finished Quilting

My favorite needles for (free motion) quilting - Topstitch needles (#100/16 or #90/14). They have a large eye, meaning less chances for the thread to break. You can see below the difference between an … [Read more...]
Quilter’s Favorites – 1 –
Quilter's Favorites will start in less than one month so I thought to share with you a quilting tip with every new post until May 10th. Read here about Quilter's Favorites. I finished the quilting onto the flower sphere. For an 100'' quilt, the quilting was incredilbly easy. Which remind me the thing I think is the most important to a sewing machine used for quilting - the … [Read more...]

Free Motion Quilting in Progress
Thank you for your response to our hexagon sphere quilt. We were overwhelmed by your wonderful comments. I have never enjoyed free motion quilting like these days. The sewing machine is my best friend and the thread (Aurifil) did not break even once! Today I will finish quilting onto the sphere. So I apologize for not continuing today with Tutorial #4 of the 1 Design - 5 Quilting … [Read more...]
About Friendship
I have just a few quilting friends here in Romania but they are good friends. I met them years ago and since then we share the passion for quilting. I still have the first message Sanda sent me back in 2005. Silvia and Ortansa live in the same town and they visited me a few years later. Mihaela was my first Romanian customer. Ela is an old friend, we shared a lot while we were part of a larger … [Read more...]
