I wash all my fabrics once they arrive to my home. I wash even the fat quarters or fat eights. Of course, the fabrics fray. I have a few pieces I bought from a shop in Romania (yes, I can find a few Michael Miller fabrics in Romania - www.fabrix.ro, how cool to order and have the fabric in 3 days!). They are cut from the bolt with a pinking blade. And today I noticed that they don't fray after … [Read more...]
Work and Love
The work and love we put in our quilts! Those who don't quilt could say these are just words. Even when we make our own quilts, I think we are not always aware of the "work and love". We just make quilts and don't count anything. But when someone sends a quilt top to you, asking to quilt it, it is impossible not to see the huge amount of work and the love the quilter stitched on it. I don't … [Read more...]
Warm, soft and cozy
Perfect for Alex! One layer of minky, one layer of wool batting, one layer of flannel. The first thing I did was to draw 6'' circles on the flannel. Then I made the quilt sandwich: minky+batting then the flannel on top. I had no problem quilting through all the layers (with darning foot and free motion stitching). Then I added a 4'' wide binding. Quick and easy project … [Read more...]

New Frame Purses
All these are 3'' frames, perfect for Madame Samm's pattern. Dots in the favorite colors of my sisters. And some lovely prints. This frame is very beautiful, I have to order more - fortunately, from Romania! Stay away from this type - there is nothing to hide the top stitching; the stitching on the inside looks more beautiful! The color of this frame is … [Read more...]

These are pieces from the In My Room collection by Jenean Morrison for Free Spirit Fabric. I learned about it a few weeks ago and the first day the yardage showed up in the stores I bought these pieces. There are more prints in this collection, all are beautiful. I gifted myself these pieces. I can't cut them into tiny pieces, so I will make some new bags. Someday, one of them will be … [Read more...]
Chantal bag pattern
After the "Amelie" and "Belle" bags, I named my new bag "Chantal". I used the same pattern and I made a set - I like to see things in different sizes. The main fabric is "Good Fortune" by Kate Spain for Moda. I was happy that I found some coordinating fabrics in my stash. This one is really large - it could be a shopping bag, an overnight bag, a diaper bag, a beach bag... This is the … [Read more...]
Teach Me – 2-
Piecing batting! If you quilt, then you have lots of batting scraps. When I need batting for smaller quilts, I search first in my bags of scraps. And I hope to find a piece large enough for my current project. But most of the time, the pieces are too small. And I am in a hurry. And then I cut a small piece from a large piece! Wouldn't be better to find some time for piecing … [Read more...]

Snow Kisses Quilt Pattern
It's finally done! It measures 30'' x 32''. Thank you for your suggestions to name this quilt. I called it "Snow Kisses" - inspired by Lara! After all the great names you suggested me, I feel now that I have to make some quilts to match the beautiful names! There is no better fabric to show a pattern than solid! I did trapunto under the snowflakes. With so narrow pieces, I was afraid … [Read more...]
