This post doesn't have pretty pictures. But I hope I will show you a beautiful quilt in a few weeks. I started a new shadow trapunto quilt. A large one - well, as large as my organza - a little bigger than 50''. As I have a small table, I thought to baste the layers on the floor... Here are batting and organza... and here I added the paper pattern. I had the most difficult time … [Read more...]
Miniature Quilt
It is great to test new designs on miniature quilts. As I don't make miniatures often, I almost forgot how quickly a quilt can be made. And, if there are lessons to be learned, then it is great to learn them without too much work/wasting/regrets. I am not fond of fusible web, I don' t like stiff patches. But fusible web has some advantages. I printed the templates on it and my … [Read more...]
New boxes
Look what I whipped up in a few hours, for a friend who loves turquoise. The set measures about 11'' and the boxes are roomy... I could do this again and again, in every possible color combination... But now I have to add binding to my miniature quilt. … [Read more...]
Loving Hugs Quilt
I finally managed to take photos of this quilt. I love how it turned out. I wanted an aqua-red quilt but since I don't have too many fabrics in these colors in my stash, I had to add green, pink, turquoise. The quilting is simple, done with free motion and wavy lines. Initially, I thought that stippling would be great too (since the prints are so busy), but I wanted to see a little more … [Read more...]
New box
Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Many things happened here, you know, things that you are afraid of but that always come ... sooner or later... Hospital, cancer, chemo... my father passed away last week... I still can't believe these words are true... So today I started sewing again, and I tried a new box. I want this one to hang on the wall. Just the first try... I love the shape, but … [Read more...]
Hexy quilt top…

Cute finds
I found these on Fabric Depot website. I can't live without thread snips. They are essentials for my shadow trapunto quilts. And for cutting thread while I piece my quilts, or cleaning the edge of the quilt before adding binding. I don't use too often regular, big scissors. So I need tons of these. I think I have about 10 in my "studio" so I can easily find one in any place I need … [Read more...]
WIP- miniature quilt
I love to work on this mini quilt. In just a few hours, I made templates and cut out all the applique pieces. This time I made the templates out of fusible web. Half of the templates I printed directly on the paper side of fusible web. Then the printer couldn't recognize the paper and did not want to print again. So I had to transfer the other half of design by hand. Nothing fun! All the … [Read more...]
New Quilt
I started a new quilt. I am so content and confident that I will finish it soon. Because it will be a miniature. These are the fabrics. Just looking at the picture it doesn't seem too interesting... so I played a little with the picture. Just too see better how the colors work together. And a little hint: I will not piece those little 3'' squares. Thank you for all the names … [Read more...]
Quilting waves
I finally started to quilt this top I finished almost 2 months ago. With so many dots, I chose to quilt something simple. Do you have an idea for a name for this quilt ? I appreciate any idea! I wish you a productive sewing week. Geta … [Read more...]
