I am working on the third pattern in the Illusions series and I realized I haven't posted on the blog about the first two projects so here is the first one. Y seams intimidate many quilters and I was one of them! I made a gorgeous 3D design and the first thought was, of course - stay away from Y seams! So I stitched it in English paper piecing. You see here 6 different fabrics and maybe you … [Read more...]
English Paper Piecing Tips for Beginners
Do you need some English paper piecing tips? Have you tried this technique yet? For more than 10 years I stayed away from it, admiring with envy beautiful Grandmother's Flower Garden quilts, thinking that I will never be able to sew something like this, because : "I sew only by machine, I don't have enough patience for sewing by hand". I can't remember the exact circumstances, but one day I … [Read more...]

Blogger’s Quilt Festival
It's time for Blogger's Quilt Festival and I am still stitching on my new Aurifil Quilt. So I thought to enter one of my favorite quilts from last year in the Original Design category. The quilt measures 40'' and it was hand pieced using English paper piecing. The pattern is here. A few challenges, a few lessons to learn and the top was done. It was fun to quilt feathers (following … [Read more...]

Square in Square Quilt
Here is my new quilt, made with Kona cotton. 40'' x 40'' After I quilted feathers on hexagons I wanted to see how the feathers look quilted on squares. It was easy to fill the space with feathers. The back - more texture than color - I would have loved the quilting to be more visible. Next time I will have to experiment quilting with thick thread. And here are … [Read more...]
WIP
The hardest part of my quilt is done. With the help of one sister and a glue pen, I finished the hand piecing. I really love the glue pen - it makes the "basting" process so fast; and I couldn't believe how accurate my pieces were. There were only 180 pieces, for a 30" little piece... and only 8 pieces like these ones - so happy that I finished with them! Matching 8 seams wasn't easy … [Read more...]

Maybe some of you are wondering if I will ever make another quilt ?? It seems this year is the year of bags. I am working on 3 new bags but I put them aside and finally started a new quilt. These are the templates - carefully cut out by my hubby. I need his help! Still in love with English paper piecing. There will be many colors... tied together by Kona cotton bone … [Read more...]
Be a Hexie Queen Blog Hop
Today is the first day of the Be a Hexie Queen Blog Hop; a big, huge "thank you" to Madame Samm and Debby, who are hosting this fun event. I am very happy to be part of it. The hexagon virus affects more and more quilters and I am one of them. So here are my hexagon projects I made (or finished) especially for this blog hop. First, my hexy cubes are finally quilted! Could you see the … [Read more...]
New Hexagon Star Quilt Pattern
Do you remember my hexagon star quilt ? Some of you asked about the pattern. Here is, if you want to make your own hexy star! This pattern comes with 5 different star versions! My original quilt was made with version #2. It was a super quick and easy project with only 181 hexagons. The complex versions require much more hexagons but I think it worth all the … [Read more...]
