In the last three days I worked so hard, I made a lot of blocks but I don’t know if I will ever piece them in a quilt…
This is the first UFO.
I wanted to make a lap quilt for a special little girl. I searched my stash and saw that I have only a few small pieces of cute fabrics, suitable for baby quilts.
In a big hurry, I started to cut and piece the blocks…
The blocks measure 12″ but the final quilt would be too small…I give up on this idea.
The floral fabric is not the best for making kaleidoscope blocks, but I wanted by all means to make kaleidoscopes…
I wanted also blocks with mitered corners, I will show you how I cut them.
Working on this quilt I realize that I can piece more accurate blocks using other method, when I will have time (and proper fabrics) I will make other blocks and I will show you how to do.
For two sets I ironed the seam allowances on the floral fabric and for the other
two sets I ironed them on the other fabric (it’s important – for easy piecing)
In the next post I will show you the other UFO, other bad idea…

It was and is a great idea and the fabric is gorgeous but just not right for that project. Put it away for a while and you will think of soemthing great to make out of it. You will!!!Remember it is what we call a design opportunity.

Hi Geta,
Yes its pretty but I see what you are saying, just not quite right for what you wish to do. Put it aside and start again, an idea will come to you for this at a later date.
You could of course trapunto a toy or animal using bright colours in the middle of these blocks…just a thought!!!

Dear Geta,
Funny, but here in Brazil I kind'a have a similar problem. Quilting isn't a very known art around here. There are some especialized stores but people doesn't care too much. That is why I've also decided to post my art work in a blog.
I really lived your stuff! Let's keep in touch!
Andrea Louise.

I love the blocks. I would Add at least a 3 inch white sashing and maybe a few appliqued flower blocks. Your work is beautiful. I enjoy visiting your site.
