I followed my own tutorial (how glad I am that I wrote it!) and I made two new portfolios. These are improved versions !
They are stiffer…much more stiffer than the original version.
Instead of quilting weight fabric I used heavyweight cotton.
And instead of batting, between the two layers of fabric I used for one of the portfolios Timtex interfacing,
and for the other I used Fast2Fuse, a double sided fusible interfacing.
I made for them two-colors handles, I added buttons and yo-yos. I could not add monograms on these busy prints. It’s very tempting to make one for myself, but where to go with it? I stay at home all day long and I quilt…

So sweet!
You should make one for yourself…you could keep it by your bed, to jot down inspirations when they come, or one by the phone for taking notes!

I adore the fabric you have used for these. They would make a lovely gift for someone who sketches.

These are ABSOLUTELY gorgeous! Please DO find somewhere to tote one! You say you did not use quilt weight, but heavyweight fabrics… did you find them locally (you have some beautiful fabrics in Europe) or did you buy them online??? Do you remember who made them?
Thank you for such a wonderful article, and lesson!

These are spectacular! I'm hoping to make one for our 11-year-old daughter to take on our cross-Atlantic flight next month. I'll let you know how it turns out!
