The hexagon sphere is finally quilted! I think I need one more week for washing, binding and taking pictures-somewhere outside.
And here is the tip for Quilter’s Favorites.
My favorite needles for (free motion) quilting – Topstitch needles (#100/16 or #90/14). They have a large eye, meaning less chances for the thread to break.
You can see below the difference between an universal needle, a quilting needle (sharp point) and a topstitch needle (big eye).
If the thread keeps breaking I change the needle.
And I always test its point: if it is dull and does not prick or it leaves a scratch on my fingernail it is time to change it.

Love your quilting design! The quilt is beautiful.

Awesome quilting! Thanks for showing enlarged needles, too. Maybe if I looked at them through a magnifying glass it would help. I can never tell any difference when looking at them. But I do like the topstitching needles for quilting as well.

Geta – this is one wonderful, beautiful quilt! You must be very proud of your achievement in unique design and exquisite workmanship. I am interested to read that you are going to wash the quilt – do you prefer to do this to all your quilts? If so do you just 'wet' them to achieve effect or do you use a soap detergent to clean it after handling it so?
