I and my sister Nina make a lot of plans. She will retire in about 4 years and we dream to grow my little business and work together!
For now she took three weeks off from her job and we thought we will stitch a lot!
The first week my nephew Alex was sick – we stitched nothing!
The second week Alex went to his home but he left the cold – we stitched almost nothing!
This is the third week and yes, today we managed to sew a little!
It is so cool to have an assistant! “Nina – please do this! Nina – please do that!”
Here is what I made with the argyle panel I showed you a few days ago.
The hardest part was to keep the diamonds in place until I topstitched over them. I tried with glue but none of what I have at home worked.
Nina is a mountain of patience – she basted all the diamonds.
Then I stitched with black thread; I would have loved a thick thread; as I did not have one, I stitched each line twice to give the stitching more definition.
It is lined with a heavyweight fabric.
I love the two-color straps.
I forgot to take a picture, the back is grey with a pocket and a lilac zipper.
Are you interested in a free tutorial for this pattern ? Nina will be here for a few more days and I convinced her to baste other set of diamonds!
Have a great week,
Geta

That is such a beautiful bag! I am glad you are all feeling better! I would love to see a tutorial….thanks, Geta and thanks to your sister too!

It is a lovely bag. I do see a potential problem with the loose diamonds catching on something and ripping off. I would suggest sewing around the edges in a matching thread when it's in the flat stage. More work, but perhaps less chance for later problems. Wonderful work as always Geta!

Finally, after Alex's cold, your cold (the one Alex forgotten :)), back to work!
I love the result of the free corners of the diamonds, indeed Nina is wonderful, but how did she baste them? Yes, please make a tutorial!
Good luck to your partnership!

enjoyt he last few days wuth your sister, how I wish mine was nearer, she is in Australia and not seen her since 2001 and looks like we might never meet again as she does not want to come to the UK and I can`t afford to go to Aus.
You certainly fooled me with two lines of stitching, how you manage to make it looks like one is amazing control of your machine,

Bestial – pe romaneste! (si eu vad o problemutza cu colturile romburilor – sa te gandesti cum ar fi mai bine, poate le poti lipi inainte de a le coase)

So pretty. Vinyl is tricky to work with as it is kind of slippery. Am trying to do some piecing with it and regular cotton and it is a challenge for sure!

This is gorgeous! I love the colors, and your stitching is spectacular, as usual! I was curious as to how your patient sister basted the diamonds on, too.
Of course, we're interested in a tutorial! It's just lovely!!

Beautiful bag! Could you use fabric glue on the points of each diamond to glue to background? I've never worked with faux leather before. Your lovely purses make me want to try !
