I need a bag for a gift and since I don’t know the fabric preference of the recipient, I thought it’s safe to stay away from bold prints and colors; this is what I chose: any woman loves flowers and pink, right?
My favorite gifts to sew!
I was wondering what interfacing to use and then I recalled that some time ago I came to the conclusion that the quilted bags are the best bags to give as gifts.
We make bags and want to use them over and over and naturally, they need to be washed. After washing, most handmade bags require pressing – a boring task even for the one who sewed it (I guess this is the reason one of my sisters don’t want to wear anything else than her faux leather bag!).
A quilted bag makes the life of the recipient so easy!
If it is heavily quilted (on the right fabric+interfacing+batting combination), most bags don’t need any pressing.
This is a large bag, I think it’s great to take it to the beach!
The beautiful inside fabric is from Ikea.
And the pretty pockets.
I can’t sew a bag without sewing a matching pouch too!
Just one more half hour of work and the gift is complete.
With all the beautiful fabrics out there, imagine the possibilities!
