Here is another favorite shadow trapunto quilt.
I love this design so much.
At the first sight, trimming the batting away might look like a difficult task, but the design is not small and that is always helpful.
The quilting required a lot of backtracking but I remember I enjoyed it.
The background was a lovely Robert Kaufman fabric and I quilted following its pattern.
And I found this old picture (2010) with my sister Nina who helped me immensely cutting the batting away; she adores doing this and she’s not a quilter! Still afraid to try shadow trapunto??
I think it was when all the quilts for the book were done!
If you need help for this technique, here is a shadow trapunto tutorial.
Happy quilting!

Your quilts are gorgeous! After seeing your work, I did a SMALL trapunto on four 12″ quilts. It’s a challenge for an art quilt group, using geometric shapes. I used a piece of lace, surrounded by trapunto in the shape of a circle, square, triangle and rectangle. One day, I’l do a larger one. Thanks for the inspiration. I’m in Mobile, Alabama, USA.
