Here is another shadow trapunto quilt from my book, it measures 25” (shadow trapunto tutorial here).
I love the way I quilted the background. The color of the thread was an important thing!
I remember I started quilting with dark color thread and I did not like it at all.
I am glad I was wise enough to take the time to unpick all the quilting! Then I started again with white thread.
The dense quilting inside the wreath draws attention to that area; isn’t great that you can achieve different results with the same thread and the same motif, only by varying the density of the quilting?
And this is the back.
The design is similar with the ones used on these two pillows.
Sorry for the horrible pictures I took in 2008!
Have a great sewing week!

You did a marvelous job! You’re right about the thread color – white creates the appearance of lace, very delicate and festive.

What a wonderful work this is!! I agree that the white thread color for this shadow trapunto is perfect! I have not moved to this ‘level of expertness’ as yet in my quilting… but, I’m endeavoring to get to practice some of your super ideas and patterns more often than I have been.
Thanks so much for all you do! 🙂

Hi Geta. Wow, what works you do, just amazing. You must be sewing & cutting nonstop. Everything item you create is so inspiring. Am looking forward to checking out your Y seam hints & tips. I never liked them. And also your advise about our ruler.. can’t wait to get going. Do you have a favourite thread for all your millions of miles of free-motion quilting?
Kind regards
Anne Chapman.
