Do you remember the cake boxes- with lids – I made in December? With all the beautiful fabric and good interfacing available, no wonder that I can’t stop sewing boxes!
What not to love at these boxes? They are decorative and the lid keeps little things away from dust- this makes any box even more attractive to me!
So here are my new boxes. The first ones, decorated with quilted hearts (because Valentine’s day is just around the corner).
I used a thin (but very stiff) interfacing – Vilene S520; due to constructions, the lids curved nicely and the quilted piece gives the lid a lovely padded look.
If you love sewing kaleidoscope blocks (with pieces that have the same printed motif) but you don’t have time for an entire quilt, just sew a box!
I am madly in love with these boxes – I must buy more Tanya Whelan fabrics, very soon!
Do you see that my kaleidoscope below is not perfect? That’s because I pre-washed my fabrics – avoid this if you want to sew such blocks.
I still dream (with open eyes) of all the beautiful fabrics I have that I could transform in boxes!
I hope these boxes bring a smile on your face and give you some ideas for future gifts!
Have a lovely sewing week!
