I made this design for my newsletter subscribers; you could make it as applique or with English paper piecing or just quilt it.
I have a thing for free motion quilting with straight lines, so here is what I did.
At first I was tempted to make a larger design and use thread in many colors…
but then I thought to experiment with only two colors.
This is Aurifil 28wt thread and it is my favorite weight when you want to show off your quilting.
I quilted everything I needed with one color and then I changed the color and quilted the remaining design.
Do you like the double pebble quilting on the background, outside the design? It is so much fun! Just circle in circle, stitched in the same direction.
The quilted piece was small (13” x 13”) so I thought to turn it into a pouch.
Great to store work-in-progress quilting projects!
