I don’t like to work with scraps and I don’t have too many charm square packs in my drawers, but I am glad that I made a new pattern that can give them a new life. I am so excited about it that my next fabric order will include some Christmas charm square packs!
What’s special about this pattern? It looks complicated but in reality it is quick and easy.
41 pieces into a block that measures less than 5”! I know, it sounds crazy, but trust me – the technique is quick and easy- it’s strip piecing!
I made 20 blocks and turned my blocks into a table runner…
… and a few coasters.
If you think you don’t have patience to sew these small blocks (I thought the same but I was so wrong!) you can use the same technique and sew bigger blocks.
For these blocks I used a charm square (5”), a layer cake square (10”) and an 18” square (for the green fabric). For the purple fabric you need more and you can cut the strips from yardage.
Sew as many blocks as you need and join them in the setting you need.
Tomorrow I will update the pattern with instructions on how to sew these blocks and how to do the math so you can sew blocks in other sizes.
I have one more idea and if it turns out well, I will show it tomorrow.
Until then,
Happy sewing!

I am from Quebec, Canada, I speak French but I can also speak English.
Every time I receive an email from you, I always enjoy it, because it is spectacular all the things you sew. You are very talented. If I would listen me, I would buy all your patterns but I am too old to do all. 76 years old, but I never stop.
I would like one day, if you want, that you show your room where you work to see how you are organizing. Thank you. Again I love receiving emails from you.
