I made this bag (pattern here) some time ago using an entire charm square pack and at first I was a little overwhelmed by the huge amount of prints I used.
Usually, if I have to use lots of prints, I like to combine them with some solid or solid like fabric. I could not do this on this pattern and I wanted to try a new look and here is how I made it.
I did not want a variety of prints so I choose fabrics with simple design from the same collection but in different colors. I still wanted to use lots of colors- but in small amount- so I chose different colors for the center square. Then two different shades of gray repeat on all the blocks.
I love this different look and I think it is a great idea for those quilters that are a little shy when it comes to using lots of colors and prints.
I think colors combined with shades of gray is always a great idea!
