Design too complicated for machine piecing? You can always sew it by hand! English paper piecing is a blessing for designs too intricate to be sewn by machine.
What do you think about this design?
I confess at first I wanted to sew it by machine and I gave up immediately. Now that I made it by hand, I made one more try to sew it by machine and gave up again! This time because I could not figure out the math – I need more time to do it! Maybe someday I will try it again. Because now that I know how to piece it by hand, sewing it by machine does not seem impossible.
Meanwhile, I could repeat this joyful experience anytime!
As always, a rainbow striped fabric offers lots of design opportunities.
I love quilting feathers on triangles; the quilt is not too big (34” x 36”), the big triangle is not too big (7”), so the quilting was easy to do.
I made a smaller version, from a different fabric- Gelato Ombre by Maywood Studio.
This “regular” fabric can do so much! You just need to know how to cut it!
This time I did a quick and easy quilting, with the walking foot.
So much fun!
There are so many interesting fabrics on the market – each one represents a chance for a unique design and a unique experience.
Pattern available here.
Happy sewing!
