Some of the kids in our family are blessed with lots of kitties while others are only dreaming about playing with furry friends. For these kids I bought some cute fabric panels years ago and now it was the time to use them.
I wanted to sew pillows for them but not regular pillows. I wanted them to feel the kitties so I made them 3D.
At first I wanted to add trapunto under the kitties, then I remembered that you can achieve the look of trapunto (raised and puffy motifs) without making trapunto, without cutting the batting away.

I used a very thick polyester batting. I outlined the kitties and then stitched a dense stippling on the background. If you don’t have thick batting, use two layers.
At first I wanted to quilt more details to each kitty but it did not look good, I had to remove some stitching.
I can’t wait to find out how my nephews react to these fun items!
Happy sewing for kids!

Where can I get the kitty fabric?

I bought the kitty fabric from equilter.com, not sure if they still have it, I bought it maybe 2 years ago.

I want to comment on your pattern Windows into My World. I just completed this quilt and it was my very first quilt. Turned out great. I did the one with the most pieces. Thank you so much for such an inspiring pattern. I’m easily bored but could not stop working on this quilt. Even after practicing and practicing free motion quilting, I just couldn’t get the hand of it but did some straight line quilting on my domestic machine and am very happy. I’d love to send you a photo. Also made a label that says: Cindy Moore – Age 71 – First Quilt – 2022
