Hello, friends! I am so glad to show you my latest quilt. Let’s start with the top!
Here are a few of the 54 blocks I made. The beautiful fabric is from the Fossil Fern collection by Benartex.
In spite of the intricate look, the pattern is really simple. I wanted to make the piecing as quick, easy and accurate as possible, so I made a few versions until I was happy! Oops, only 4!!
It’s a 3-step technique and what’s wonderful about it is that you end up each step with a perfect block- always in the right size. This makes the next piecing step easy!! So you don’t have to worry that your piecing will produce smaller or bigger blocks than it should!
I loved combining the colorful blocks with a light color background, it’s what I usually do, and I couldn’t break the rule! The background fabric is Kona Cotton Bone- my favorite light color.
I pieced the blocks with Aurifil 50wt- wonderful weight for piecing!
One of the reasons the piecing is quick is that you don’t have to press after every single seam. The blocks is made out of 15 pieces and you press it three times! Isn’t this great? In between, finger-pressing is enough!
Now you know who is behind my…strength!
One of the blocks is done in my favorite colors, I could sew the entire top only with this block!
This quilt was an wonderful experience and what you see here is only half of it.
The other half – the quilting – comes tomorrow; it taught me many lessons that I am glad to share with you.

Meanwhile, if you are anxious to sew your own version, the pattern is available here.

This pattern looks the same as your Loving Hugs pattern which I have. Is it the same with a new name? Are there changes to the technique?
Geta Grama says
It’s a completely different technique and the designs are not the same! Loving hugs patterns use triangles; this pattern uses trapezoids. The final shape is different.
